China's biggest auto show, the 16th Shanghai International Automobile Industry Exhibition, will see no models alongside automobiles at this year's show.
Also, for the first time, children are banned from entry to the show for "safety reasons."
The show will see the biggest industry participation among international auto shows, according to the event organizer.
The show will be held at Shanghai's biggest exhibition venue, the brand new National Exhibition and Conventional Center, which is about to confront its most challenging task since its trial operation started last October.
Covering over 530,000 square meters, the show will attract nearly 2,000 auto companies from 18 countries and regions, Wang Xia, head of automotive committee of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, said yesterday.
Domestic and foreign carmakers will display 1,343 car models, 209 more than last year's event held in Beijing. The vehicles include 109 making their global debut and 47 concept models. There will be 103 new-energy cars, up 24 from 2014, at this year's show to be held from April 20 to 29.
