The Managing Committee of Hengqin New Area in southern China's Zhuhai City has issued a general guideline on reform and innovation focusing on improvements in advanced telecommunications, the Zhuhai Daily reported.

According to the guideline, Hengqin will build up its wireless 4G network as well as smart platforms for tourism and transportation so that the entire island will gradually be covered by wifi.

Hengqin is also considering to build a big data platform for online administrative services and start the top-level design of a smart city.
