Dozens of representatives from states of the Russian Federation attended the promotional business conference in a vote of confidence for Chinese investment during the 2nd China-Russia Expo which opened in Harbin, Heilongjiang Province on Oct. 12, 2015.

Russian representatives introduced their states' geographical and industrial advantages and explained their business-friendly policies in an aim to inspire Chinese investment, in a time of slowing bilateral trade growth due to the fluctuations of commodity prices and rouble rates.

The trade volume between the two powerhouse nations stood at only US$ 31 billion in the first half of this year, a decrease of 30 percent.

Despite the lackluster trade growth, which has struggled to hit the expected US$ 96 billion by the end of the year, the two neighbors tried to expand economic cooperation through various means as the world's largest country also held the East Russia Economic Forum in the port city of Vladivostok this September in an aim to invite Chinese involvement in Far East development.

"The China-Russia Expo has become a vital platform to expand economic cooperation and trade between the two countries," said Lu Hao, governor of Heilongjiang Province. "We hope that the two sides can present more investment opportunities and business-friendly government policies through the event."

The two countries are also trying to make adjustments in trade structures with cross-border e-commerce and land leasing becoming trade method highlights.

China and Russia are promoting cooperation on over 60 large scale projects, according to Russian ambassador Andrey Ivanovich Denisov in a press conference in Beijing during August.
