American fast food chain, McDonald's, announced on Thursday that it was temporarily suspending the sale of Big Mac hamburgers in Venezuela, due to "difficulties" with the supplier.

"McDonald's Venezuela is working to resolve this temporary situation. Along with our provider, we are evaluating the best options to keep offering quality products," said the company in a statement.

However, it said that it was working with suppliers to keep offering other products, such as the Quarter Pounder, the CBO, or the McNifica.

Between January and November 2015, McDonald's was already forced to suspend the sale of French fries in Venezuela, stating the impossibility of importing pre-cooked potatoes.

It began offering French fries in November with ingredients "made 100% in Venezuela" but at a higher price.
