China Business Council for Sustainable Development (CBCSD), a coalition of leading Chinese and foreign enterprises, held the 13th Conference on the Latest Trends of Sustainable Development in Beijing on April 20.

Under the theme of "Global Economic Governance and Sustainable Development," the conference attracted more than 140 participants from politics, business, academia and social communities.

The event was moderated by Zhu Hongren, the executive vice chairman and director-general of China Enterprise Confederation (CEC). Wang Zhongyu, the chairman of CEC, and Su Wei, the director of Department of International Cooperation, China's National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) made the opening remarks.

Peter Bakker, the president and CEO of the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBSCD) sent a video message to express his congratulations on the conference.

The annual conference, which has been held successively for twelve years, is comprised of three sessions: "More Vibrant, Inclusive, and Sustainable Economic Globalization," "Actions in Achieving 2030 Agenda" and "Better Business, Better World."

It provided a good chance for officials, experts and business leaders to discuss the ways of facilitating China's sustainable development.

For now, China is faced with an arduous task of striking a balance between economic development and ecological conservation. Yet as Wang Jiming, the president of CBCSD, said in his closing remarks, with synergy established between government departments, business communities and social organizations, China has the confidence to lead the world in achieving sustainable development and transforming global governance.
