China increases US treasuries holding in March

China increased its holding of U.S. Treasury securities in March for the second consecutive month, the latest data from the U.S. Treasury Department showed on Monday.

China added its treasuries holding by 27.9 billion U.S. dollars in March, with the total holding up to 1.0876 trillion U.S. dollars.

China's forex reserves rose for the third month in a row in April, as the cross-border capital flow became stable and the Chinese currency, Renminbi, stabilizes against the U.S. dollar.

Japan, which overtakes China as the largest holder of U.S. treasuries in last October, increased its holding by 3.4 billion dollars to 1.1185 trillion dollars in March.

By the end of March, overall foreign holdings of U.S. Treasury securities rose to 6.0793 trillion U.S. dollars from February's 6.012 trillion dollars.
