- China Green Expo provides platform for green tech cooperation
- Zhou Ting, an exhibitor at the Green Expo told China.org.cn that their company builds environmentally-friendly houses for people who live in rural areas as well as constructing temporary housing in earthquake disaster areas.
"The basic material for our residence is light-gauge steel, which is lighter and more 'renewable' in terms of construction. Compared to traditional materials such as tiles and bricks, it could save at least eight to ten percent of the housing area. And roughly 80 percent of these new-type materials could be reused and recycled," Zhou said.
In the aftermath of the 2008 Wenchuan earthquake in Sichuan Province, Zhou's company donated nearly 3-million-yuan worth of light-gauge steel joist and sent professionals to construct temporary housing in disaster areas, which saved labor and time.
The China (Suining) Green Expo is co-hosted by the Hedong New Area Management Committee of Suining City, Green Economy Development Office of Suining City and the International Green Economy Association (IGEA).
Suining is the first group of cities seeking green development in China and has deliberated over relevant policies to strive for a green, low-carbon, circular and sustainable way of production since 2007.
Zhou said that, with the Green Expo providing a platform to exchange the latest technologies for green development, companies at home and abroad should make full use of this opportunity to strengthen green technological and industrial cooperation which is helpful and beneficial for people to live a cleaner and greener life.
