Professor Gerald A. McDermott from the Darla Moore School of Business of USC pointed out that the digital economy is breaking the traditional concept of borders and the organizational structure of enterprises, industries and countries." Technology can shape but does not determine paths of development and strategies, so the core frameworks in social science and business strategies should still depend on analysis for identifying global risks and opportunities, dynamic value chains across countries, and potential investments in different regions," he said.

McDermott's colleague Professor Douglas Woodward compared Silicon Valley with China's Shenzhen in terms of innovative clusters and economic rivalry in the digital age. He said, "The two places share three main characteristics: unparalleled engineering talent, efficient input sharing and deep supply linkages, and enhanced knowledge flows and information spillovers. They will both play a significant role in the digital age, with potentially exponential growth in productivity based on pervasive, interconnected computing power, massive digital information, machine learning, artificial intelligence, and robotics."

Professor Liu Yipeng, from Henley Business School of the University of Reading, indicated that innovative international talent management has become a crucial topic in academia, politics and business. However research into innovative international talent management often lacks a theoretical basis, particularly in terms of a global vision and an interdisciplinary comparative analytic perspective. He shared his opinion on how innovative companies become internationalized, and how to develop and manage innovative international talent.

With around 150 participants, the Forum brought together experts and academics from home and abroad. It is expected to further promote cooperation and communication in teaching and research on international business among universities, relevant academic research institutions, and enterprises.
