Chinese, Japanese FMs meet on sidelines of APEC meeting

Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi met with his Japanese counterpart Seiji Maehara on Sunday on sidelines of the 18th Economic Leaders' Meeting of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum.

They said China and Japan should carry out the important consensus reached between leaders of the two countries, firmly stick to the right direction of developing China-Japan relations and safeguard the overall interests of bilateral ties.

The two top diplomats also said China and Japan should adopt positive measures to enhance friendly feelings between the two peoples, boost practical cooperation, and improve and develop bilateral relations.

The two-day 18th Economic Leaders' Meeting of the APEC forum opened at Yokohama city Saturday afternoon. APEC is the premier forum for facilitating economic growth, cooperation, trade and investment in the Asia-Pacific region.
