Macao customs seize 245 packs of smuggled cigars

The Macao Customs Services have nabbed two local residents for their alleged involvement in contraband of 245 packs of cigars, local media reported Wednesday.

 

The Macao Post Daily quoted custom sources as saying that customs officials Tuesday discovered the shipment which was consisted of 345 packs, 245 of which had not been declared.

 

The smuggled cigars, which were made in Switzerland, have a market value of 1.1 million patacas (US$137,500).

 

The recovered goods were confiscated for breach of Macao's External Trade Law and the two suspects are facing a fine of 100, 000 patacas (US$12,500), the newspaper said.
