Population in Taiwan totals 22.98 mln

The population in Taiwan totaled about 22.98 million by March this year, a year-on-year increase of 0.43 percent, Taiwan media reported Tuesday.

The sex ratio on the island stood at 102 males per 100 females, the Taiwan authority was quoted by media reports.

Meanwhile, there were 7.53 million households in Taiwan, up 1.65 percent over March last year.

In March, every 2.8 minutes an infant was born on the island and every 3.3 minutes a person passed away.
