Zhao Hongzhu, the provincial Party Secretary of Zhejiang Province, told reporters in Hangzhou on September 10 that Zhejiang's four major development strategies have been approved by China's Cabinet, the State Council, and would herald a bright future and make a significant impact on the province's overall development.

Zhao said that Zhejiang's economy shows five characteristics: dominant private enterprises, manufacturing driven, commodities market driven, open and benefited by its proximity to the ocean. Since 2011, the province has set up a marine economic development trial zone and a new area in Zhoushan Islands, and launched international trade reforms in the trade hub of Yiwu and financial reforms in Wenzhou. All those strategies would provide opportunities for the province to boost its development and reforms and sharpen its competitive edge, he added.

Zhao said that the province would pursue grand scales in building economic platforms, industries, enterprises and projects and strive to transform to a new modern Zhejiang which is wealthy both economically and culturally.

About a dozen of reporters from China and abroad will tour Ningbo and Zhoushan, among other places in Zhejiang Province over the next few days.
