Another 2 H7N9 cases reported in Zhejiang

Another two cases of H7N9 bird flu were confirmed on Monday in east China's Zhejiang Province, bringing the province's total number of infections to 40, said local authorities.

The patients, a 54-year-old female office clerk surnamed Ye from the provincial capital of Hangzhou and a 32-year-old farmer from the neighboring Jiangxi Province, are receiving treatment in two local hospitals, according to the provincial health department.

A 41-year-old patient surnamed Zhang, who was tested positive for H7N9 on April 17, recovered and left hospital on Monday morning, according to the department.

So far, five people have died of H7N9 bird flu and two have been discharged from hospital after making a full recovery in the province.

Meanwhile, a 36-year-old man suspected of being infected with H7N9 was found in Zaozhuang City of east China's Shandong Province on Monday, the first case discovered in the province, according to the provincial health department.

The man's sample has been sent to the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention for reaffirmation.
