Liu Yunshan, a senior official of the Communist Party of China (CPC), met on Friday with foreign guests to discuss the role of political parties in innovation of global economic governance.

The CPC in Dialogue with the World 2016, themed "Innovation of Global Economic Governance: The Party's Governing Philosophy and Actions," is being held in Chongqing Municipality in southwest China from Thursday to Saturday.

Liu, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, met with Charlot Salwai, president of the Reunification Movement for Change (RMC) and prime minister of Vanuatu; Miyegombo Enkhbold, chairman of the Mongolian People's Party (MPP) and chairman of the State Great Hural, Mongolia's parliament; Chynybai Tursunbekov, president of the Kyrgyz Parliament and a leader of the Social Democratic Party of Kyrgyzstan (SDPK); Abdulla Maseeh Mohamed, speaker of the People's Majlis of the Maldives; and leaders from six African political parties.

During the meeting with Salwai, Liu said the CPC is willing to further strengthen cooperation with Vanuatu under the principle of equality and mutual respect and promote the development of China-Vanuatu ties through closer relations between political parties.

Salwai said Vanuatu will continue to abide by the one-China policy and support China on issues involving China's core interests and major concerns.

During the meeting with Enkhbold, Liu said the CPC will work with the MPP to further strengthen the two countries' economic cooperation and people-to-people exchanges to push forward the bilateral comprehensive strategic partnership.

Enkhbold said the MPP hopes to increase sharing of experience with the CPC in party building.

During the meeting with Tursunbekov, Liu said China is ready to work with Kyrgyzstan to deepen their cooperation under the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative, enhance political mutual trust, and consolidate their friendship.

Tursunbekov echoed Liu, saying Kyrgyzstan is willing to implement the cooperation plan it has already reached with China and promote the integration of the Belt and Road Initiative with Kyrgyzstan's development strategy.

During the meeting with Maseeh, Liu said China is willing to make joint efforts with the Maldives on the construction of the Maritime Silk Road and promote in-depth development of bilateral relations.

Maseeh said China respects the Maldives' choice of national development path. The Maldives side expressed appreciation and is willing to participate and support the construction of the Maritime Silk Road.

During the meeting with a delegation consisting of general secretaries of six African political parties, Liu said the CPC attaches great importance to relations with the six parties and would like to strengthen exchanges on governance.

The six general secretaries are Abdulrahman Kinana from Tanzania's Chama Cha Mapinduzi (Party of the Revolution), Gwede Mantashe from the African National Congress, Eliseu Joaquim Machava from Mozambique's FRELIMO, Pedro Sebastiao from Angola's MPLA, Nangolo Mbumba from Namibia's SWAPO Party, and Ignatious Chombo from Zimbabwe African National Union-Patriotic Front.
