Title: Telling Good Stories Along the Belt and Road to Promote People-to-People Bonds

Abstract

The Belt and Road Initiative will make relevant countries’ economic ties closer and mutual cooperation deeper. Connecting with peoples is one of the major goals of the initiative and is being discussed widely.

Connecting peoples holds the key to good relations between states. It is a precondition and foundation for the implementation of other four major goals of the initiative, namely, policy coordination, facilities connectivity, unimpeded trade, and financial integration. Undoubtedly, It is of considerable practical significance. Speaking at Kazakhstan’s Nazarbayev University in 2013, Chinese President Xi Jinping stressed: “We should encourage more friendly exchanges between our people to enhance mutual understanding and traditional friendship and build strong public support and a solid social foundation for regional cooperation”.

China News Service has done a lot to introduce the Belt and Road Initiative and its development. I would like to take this chance to share my views on the topic of “connecting with peoples” and your criticism is sincerely welcomed.

First, we should further promote the Belt and Road Initiative and make it take root and sprout in the hearts of the people along the routes. Second, we should expand people-to-people exchanges and build up emotional connection through the building of the Belt and Road. Third, media play an important role in strengthening people’s friendly exchanges and all the media of the countries along the Belt and Road routes should give it a full play.
