Title: Serving the Belt and Road by Strengthening Investment and Financing Support

Abstract:

Chinese President Xi Jinping announced the establishment of the Silk Road Fund while attending the Dialogue on Strengthening Connectivity Partnership on November 8, 2014. The fund is designed as a medium to long-term development and investment fund. Following a philosophy of openness, inclusiveness, and mutual benefit, the fund provides investment and financing support for trade and economic cooperation and connectivity under the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative. The establishment of the fund is a key measure taken by China in the Belt and Road construction. It shows Chinese capital directly supports the Belt and Road construction, which is a real action taken by China to engage in the global initiative of expanding infrastructure investment and promoting world's sustainable growth.

Since its establishment, the fund has made an effort to invest in infrastructure, resources and energy development, industrial capacity cooperation and financial cooperation. It has made headway in a series of projects, such as Pakistan's Karot Hydropower Plant project, Italy's Pirelli Moto Tyres project, and Russia's Yamal LNG project, to promote common development and prosperity for China and other countries and regions involved in the Belt and Road Initiative.

The fund actively innovates finance, expands financing modes, promotes cooperation with financial institutions, improves risk-control systems, and works with domestic and overseas enterprises and financial institutions to financially support the Belt and Road construction.
