The Legislative Assembly of China's Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) voted on Monday afternoon to suspend legislator Sou Ka Hou from his duty, the first legislator to have his mandate suspended in the Macao SAR.

Among the 33-member Legislative Assembly, 28 legislators voted for and four against the suspension of Sou's mandate.

Sou was accused of the crime of aggravated disobedience. The beginning of the trial was originally scheduled for Nov. 28, but was postponed in response to a request by the Legislative Assembly, according to the First Instance Court of the Macao SAR.
