The Beijing Organizing Committee for the 2022 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games has begun recruiting licensed manufacturers for the event, according to an announcement on the committee's website on May 25.

The committee will license five manufacturers to produce precious metal products for the Games, and two to three manufacturers to provide five other types of products. They include badges, key chains, and other non-precious metal products; garments and accessories; silk articles; stationeries; and ceramics including dark-red enameled pottery. The licensed manufacturers will be responsible for the development, design and production of their assigned products.

The organizing committee has also listed detailed qualifications for the manufacturers. Those applying for the licenses must have good corporate credit ratings and social reputations, and have been in operation for at least two years with a minimum registered capital of 20 million yuan (US$3.13 million). They must also either be in possession of the quality management system certification and the environmental management system certification, or have reached the quality and environmental standard stipulated by equivalent provincial or higher-level institutions. In addition, the companies must have either acquired the information safety management system certification or established well-functioning information management systems, and they should have strong capabilities in risk mitigation as well as product development, design, production, and marketing.

The recruitment process is as follows: Companies should first submit their letters of intent along with documents proving their qualifications. The organizing committee will then issue recruitment application forms to the companies that meet all requirements. These companies need to return the completed applications by a given time. Once all recruitment application forms are in, the organizing committee will set up a special review group to conduct assessments and field visits. Companies that receive final approval will sign licensing protocols with the organizing committee.

May 30 is the deadline for submitting the initial letter of intent, along with other supporting documents such as the company's business license, the quality management system certification, the environmental management system certification, etc. The documents can be sent via email to licensing@beijing2022.cn, or submitted in person to the marketing department of the organizing committee.
