China has honored a Communist Party of China (CPC) village committee chief "role model of our times" for his contribution to the local governance.

Wang Chuanxi, from Daicun village in east China's Shandong Province, was granted the honor by the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee on Friday.

Over the past 19 years, Wang, also a delegate to the 19th CPC National Congress, has taken the lead in building the primary CPC organizations and developing the village, said a statement issued by the department.

Wang has united the masses in advancing modern agriculture and effective governance of the village, bringing prosperity and sense of fulfillment and happiness to the villagers, the statement said.

Wang's deeds have shown his firm conviction and loyalty to the Party, responsibility for his work and the people he serves, as well as his honest and upright character, according to the statement.
