China's political advisors Friday raised suggestions on how to reduce the burden on primary and middle school students at a bi-weekly consultation session presided over by top political advisor Wang Yang.

Wang, a Standing Committee member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and chairman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference National Committee, said that extra after-school burden hinders healthy growth of students and quality-oriented education.

A total of 15 political advisors put forward proposals ranging from creating a scientific education evaluation system to education resources allocation.

They called for better supervision of after-school training agencies and school enrollment, and comprehensive education reform.

Efforts should be made by all Party committees and governments to improve policies and regulations to help reduce burden for students, they said.
