Beijing has simplified the business registration for new companies and brought the entire process online, according to the city's administration of industry and commerce.

Benefitting from a series of measures cutting red tapes and increasing efficiency, companies can now either finish their business registration online or submit their materials at a one-stop service window, and then obtain their licenses in less than five days.

The same procedure would previously take up to 24 days to complete.

Xu Zenan, vice director of the registration department at the Beijing Administration of Industry and Commerce, said over 80 percent of the new companies choose to complete their registrations online.

"Under the new scheme, companies no longer need to submit any printed materials," Xu said. "After the business investors and the legal representatives finished their application and electronic signature online, they can obtain the license in about a day."

At a service center for business registration in southern Beijing's Fengtai district, around 95.8 percent of the newly established operations have chosen to finish their procedures online in June, according to official statistics.

For those who wanted to submit their materials in person instead of applying online, they can turn to the one-window service that can handle procedures including industry and commerce, taxes, and public security.

Beijing also provides a set of free seal for new companies, ensuring "zero cost" for starting a business.

Once their registrations get approved, business representatives can choose to have their license delivered or pick up the license at the service center through a machine.
