As a persistent heat wave sweeps across China, 22 counties and cities in the southwest and northeast regions of the country have experienced their hottest July on record, reports Chinanews.com.
The National Meteorological Center has been issuing high temperature alerts for seventeen consecutive days this month.
Since July 10, provinces and regions including Chongqing, Hubei, Hunan, Jiangxi, Anhui and Zhejiang, have seen 10 to 18 days of temperatures reaching 35 degrees or above, which are defined meteorologically as "high temperature days." Fengdu county in Chongqing has seen 10 days of temperatures hitting over 40 degrees through July.
