As the International Horticultural Exhibition 2019 Beijing draws near, preparations are in full swing.

According to the Beijing World Horticultural Expo Coordination Bureau, the structures of the main buildings of the China Pavilion and the International Pavilion have finished construction, and work has begun on the 23 Chinese gardens in the China Horticultural Exhibition Area.

Construction for the provincial gardens are well underway. Some have completed work in civil engineering and hydroelectricity, while others have finished greening and landscaping.

Organizers plan to build a square at the center of the exhibition area with rocks shipped from Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and cities in 31 provinces and municipalities throughout the Chinese mainland representing their distinctive landscapes.

The rock displays will also include patterns representing the Yellow River and the Yangtze River. The square will be arranged in such a way to symbolize the unity of the Chinese nation. The rocks are expected to arrive at the square by the middle of September.

The Expo, themed "Live Green, Live Better," will last for 162 days from April 9 to Oct. 7, 2019. During the Expo, participants from regions across China will build exhibition gardens, put on indoor exhibitions, hold forums and take part in international horticultural competitions.

The regional participants will also be putting on their own three-day Exhibition Day activities, during which they will stage performances with local features and hold cultural activities to promote their products and boost trade exchanges with their counterparts.

To date, the China Pavilion and the International Pavilion have been completed, with the mechanical and electrical installation, exterior wall decoration and secondary structure installation well under way. Supporting facilities, roads and pipelines as well as public landscaping within the park are about to be finished. Construction for access highways like Xingyan Expressway and Shiyuan Avenue are on schedule.
