4,741 Beijing companies and organizations to attend CIIE

A total of 4,741 companies and organizations in Beijing will participate in the world's first import-themed national-level expo, the China International Import Expo (CIIE), in Shanghai on Nov. 5-10, officials from the Beijing Municipal Commission of Commerce announced at a press conference held for the Beijing trade group on Oct. 29.

The trade delegation will hold a promotional activity at the National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai) on Nov. 6 to explain Beijing's new round of policy on opening up as well as announce and sign contracts of major projects. The delegation is also expected to purchase products, technologies and services that would contribute to Beijing's development.

According to the Beijing Municipal Commission of Commerce, the delegation comprises 10 trade groups of key companies and 16 trade groups of various districts, such as the State-Owned Enterprises Trade Group, the High-End Equipment and Automobile Trade Group, the Zhongguancun Scientific and Technological Innovation Trade Group, the Yizhuang Economic Development Zone Trade Group, and the Tianzhu Comprehensive Bonded Zone Trade Group.

The top three among them are the State-Owned Enterprises Trade Group, the Chaoyang District Trade Group, and the Haidian District Trade Group; they each accommodate 1,018, 789, and 297 registered companies, respectively.

By the end of the registration period, 4,741 companies and organizations and 14,354 people signed up for the trade delegation, 18.5 percent and 19.6 percent more than the city had anticipated, respectively. Among the 4,741 companies and organizations, there are 4,150 companies and 191 guilds or associations, 62 of which are from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan, and 191 of which are foreign-funded ones.
