A senior official at one of China's largest shipbuilding conglomerates has been expelled from the Communist Party of China and removed from public office after being accused of serious violations of the law and Party discipline, China's top anti-graft bodies said on Monday.

Sun Bo, 57, former deputy Party chief and general manager of China Shipbuilding Industry Corp, was dismissed from his position and placed under investigation in June by the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection and the National Supervisory Commission.

He violated political disciplines and rules, betrayed Party aspirations and was involved in deceit that harmed the interests of the State-owned enterprise, the watchdogs said in a statement posted online.

Sun concealed the truth during inspections, strayed from Party standards and has been engaged in superstitious activities for a long time. He also violated the Party's frugality rules, participating in banquets that might have interfered with the fair execution of his official duties, the statement said.

Sun failed to honestly report his personal information in accordance with existing rules and took advantage of his position to create profits for his family members, it said.

His abuse of power had particularly serious repercussions for the nation's interests. He is suspected of the crimes of bribery and abuse of power, it added.

"As a senior leading cadre of the Party and head of a State-owned enterprise, Sun Bo is arrogant, disrespectful and unfaithful to the Party," it said. "He was engaged in power deals and bribery and failed to stop after the Party's 18th National Congress, and therefore should be dealt with seriously."

The CCDI expelled Sun from the Party, and the National Supervisory Commission fired him from his post. Sun's illicit gains have been confiscated and other evidence and property associated with his crimes will be sent to prosecutors for further action.

Sun, who was born in 1961, earned a doctorate at Dalian University of Technology in 2007 and was certified as a senior engineer. He had served in the shipbuilder's Party committee since 2009 and was named board director, general manager and the Party's deputy secretary in 2015.

The anti-graft bodies have also placed another conglomerate's senior official, Du Keping, under investigation, alleging violations of discipline and laws. Du was formerly deputy general manager of Sinochem Group, a statement released on Monday said.

Born in 1961 in Shandong province, Du joined the Party in 1996 and started working for Sinochem in 1989. He began serving on the enterprise's Party committee and was named deputy general manager in 2010. He was removed from his post in 2017.
