Beijing's private sector earn US$66 billion in profit in 3 quarters

As of the end of September, Beijing is home to 24,000 non-public entities above the designated scale. Together they employed 3.99 million people and earned 455.28 billion yuan (US$66 billion) in profit in the first nine months, according to the city's statistics bureau. 

The non-public units are comprised of privately-held businesses and Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan funded share-holding companies, foreign funded share-holding companies, as well as non-enterprise legal entities that are privately funded or with funds from Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and foreign countries. 

In the first three quarters this year, private economy above the designated scale created a total revenue of 4.51 trillion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 7.3 percent. Its profit increased 8.5 percent to 455.28 billion yuan.

In terms of different entities, both domestic and foreign-funded enterprises saw their revenue increasing more than 4 percent year-on-year. Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan funded enterprises achieved the largest revenue growth of 19.1 percent year-on-year. 

Regarding different types of industries, software and information technology services enterprises and rental and business services enterprises saw significant revenue growth.

The revenue of large-scale enterprises and that of medium-, small- and micro-sized enterprises respectively surpassed 2 trillion yuan. The revenue of private sector companies in the city's core urban areas declined slightly, while companies in other areas saw revenue growth this year.
