Chinese boat, Noahs II, has finished 12th in the 74th Sydney to Hobart yacht race on Saturday, crossing the finish line just over a minute behind their closest competitor.

The team took two days 11 hours and 15 minutes to complete the 1,163km journey, arriving in Hobart just after midnight.

Line honors went to supermaxi Wild Oats XI after they survived a protest which almost cost them the race for a second consecutive year.

In 2017 Oats was hit with a one-hour penalty for causing a near collision just after the start, which cost them the top prize.

This year, competitors raised concerns that the leading yacht had turned off a navigation system which allowed others to see their position.

However, the protest was overturned and Oats officially claimed one of the sailing's top prizes with a time of one day 19 hours and seven minutes.
