The Beijing International Horticultural Expo 2019 is just around the corner. Yanqing, the venue for the expo in northwestern Beijing, has entered its final stage of preparations for the world horticultural gala, which will run from April 29 to October 7.

So far 110 countries and organizations have confirmed their participation in the expo, said Zhou Jianping, executive director general of Beijing Expo 2019's Coordination Bureau.

In addition, China's provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions will display their gardens at the expo. Yanqing will usher in estimated visitors of 16 million during the expo, said Zhou.

To better embrace the event, Yanqing has beefed up preparation endeavors including the construction of expo sites and infrastructure such as transportation, hotels, B&Bs (bed and breakfast inns) and parking lots, said Governor Yu Bo of Yanqing at an event on January 22 marking the 100-day countdown leading up to the 2019 Beijing International Horticultural Expo.

Hotels and 200 B&B inns are ready for use and can be accessed through online booking, said Yu.

Yanqing has also completed the training of etiquette, oral English and first-aid training for 8,000 volunteers , who will provide comprehensive service for the expo's exhibitors and visitors. Local volunteers from Yanqing and elsewhere in Beijing are also in position to serve the expo.

With the theme of "Live Green, Live Better", the expo will serve as a green name card for Yanqing, Beijing as well as China at large as it will showcase the nation's green concept and development. Meanwhile visitors can enjoy the colorful horticulture and culture.
