Beijing's Tongzhou District Exit and Entry Service Hall officially opened on Wednesday. It offers one-stop services for foreign expatriates in Beijing, handling four types of residence permit applications, four types of permanent residence applications, and foreigner permanent residence ID reissuance and renewal applications.

The service hall is located at No. 67, Yudaihe West Street, Tongzhou district. Its three counters each provide permanent residence, residence permit, and foreigner visa-related consulting services, respectively.

"I used to go to the Exit and Entry Administration of the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Public Security at Andingmen, which took me more than one hour on a single trip," said Jema from the U.K. "Now I can do it in our neighborhood, which is very convenient."

Jema, a kindergarten teacher, has worked in Beijing for over seven years. Her current work permit must be renewed once a year. "I usually work and live in Tongzhou. Now it can save me a lot of time," she said.

The Tongzhou service hall mainly handles residence permit applications for work, study, reunion and private affairs, permanent residence permit applications for special contribution, investment, employment and family reunification, and permanent residence ID reissuance and renewal applications. The service hall is open to all eligible foreign applicants in Beijing, regardless of what districts of Beijing they reside in. It is open Monday to Saturday, except legal holidays, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Applicants should note that they need to first make an appointment in the Exit and Entry Service section on the homepage of the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Public Security before visiting. They should get the application form, print the reservation barcode, and bring all required document to submit the application to their appointment.

Those who begin their applications only by first making the appointment could enjoy a shorter processing time of seven days. Permanent residence applications must be handled in person at the service hall.

The Shijingshan District Exit and Entry Service Hall also opened Wednesday. The service hall is open Monday to Saturday, except legal holidays, from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., with a lunch break from 12 to 1:30 p.m.

The opening of the two new service locations brings the total for foreigners to apply for visas in Beijing to six. They can now be found throughout the capital in Dongcheng, Chaoyang, Haidian, Shijingshan, Tongzhou, and Shunyi districts.
