The service building of the Beijing Daxing International Airport will be open in September along with the airport, according to the construction company.

Due to its resemblance of the airport's five concourses, the service building has been dubbed the "sixth pier." It has a gross floor area of more than 130,000 square meters.

The south end of the building, which is near the airport terminal, will provide shopping (21,700 square meters) and office (45,900 square meters) spaces and open in September, while hotels (69,400 square meters) at the north end of the building are expected to open at the end of this year.

The building has two underground levels, five floors above ground, and one mezzanine. At the south end, the first floor, the mezzanine, and the third to fifth floors will be used as office space, while the second floor will be commercial space. At the north end, all the ground floors will be hotels.

In addition, railways and subways that connect the new airport will pass through the building underground, enabling passengers to walk mere meters from the building to the airport terminal.

According to the construction company, a garden landscape will be introduced in the building in the future, along with eco-friendly glass walls and smart facilities.

Meanwhile, construction of two parking structures near the service building are being finished. The four-story structures will have a gross floor area of 260,000 square meters and provide 4,321 parking spaces.
