Nearly 8,000 companies and organizations to attend CIFTIS

The sixth China International Fair for Trade in Services (CIFTIS) will be held in Beijing from May 28 to June 1, with attendance by 7,998 companies and organizations from 130 countries and regions, the fair's organizers announced at a press conference held by China's State Council Information Office on Wednesday.

Themed with "Opening-up, Innovation, Intelligence and Integration," the fair will feature exhibitions and negotiations for cooperation among companies and organizations in 12 fields of trade in services. There will be a main venue and 10 sub-venues, an exhibition area of around 150,000 square meters, and 236 forum meetings and negotiation activities.

According to Wang Bingnan, vice minister of commerce, the fair would be held with sub-venues for the first time, tripling the total exhibition area of the previous session.

In addition, Wang said the expo will be held annually starting this year. The CIFTIS has previously been a biennial event.

Among the companies to attend this year's fair, there are 614 multinational companies and well-known companies in their industries, as well as 63 of the world's top 500 enterprises. Moreover, 21 international organizations will participate in the fair, nine of which will hold international forums and other activities. Over 160 chambers of commerce and business associations from China and abroad will attend as well. 

Ninety-eight of the 131 countries that signed Belt and Road cooperation documents with China will participate in the fair. In addition, all top 30 countries and regions in trade in services and all 14 countries that signed the memorandum of cooperation in trade in services with China will attend.

Meanwhile, 31 provinces, autonomous regions, and municipalities, Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps, five municipalities with independent planning status, and Shenyang city in China's Liaoning province will participate in the fair.
