Wu Xieyu, a former Peking University student suspected of killing his mother, was arrested on Monday with the approval of the Jin'an District People's Procuratorate in Fuzhou, East China's Fujian province.

Wu is suspected of intentional homicide, fraud and selling identity documents. His case is under further investigation.

Xie Tianqin, Wu's mother, was found dead on Feb 14, 2016, in her apartment in Fuzhou.

Xie was believed to have been murdered by her son after they had an argument on July 11, 2015.

Wu managed to borrow more than 1 million yuan ($144,700) in his mother's name after her death.

Wu also borrowed money from relatives and friends, saying he was going to study abroad, then he absconded with 1.44 million yuan ($207,000).

On March 3, 2016, Jin'an police issued a reward notice for information on Wu.

After three years on the run, he was captured on April 21 at Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport when he went to see a friend off. When he was detained, police found more than 30 ID cards Wu bought online.
