This year also marks the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, and so the gala will be divided into three chapters: "family," "country" and the "world."

"The gala will integrate singing, dance, traditional Chinese opera, drama and multimedia. We hope to reflect 70 years of change to children's performance," said Guo Xinbao, director of the China Soong Ching Ling Science and Culture Center for Young People.

The gala, themed around the children growing together with their country, is cohosted by China Soong Ching Ling Foundation (CSCLF), China Welfare Institute (CWI) and China's National Centre for the Performing Arts (NCPA).

The Little Companion Art Troupe of the CWI organized a pop-up art event in Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport before arriving in Beijing on May 25. The young actors performed classic children's songs such as "Let Us Sway Twin Oars," and "My Motherland and I." The art troupe was established by Madame Soong Ching Ling on June 1, 1955.

The art troupe will perform a dance "The Earth: We Will Always Be With You" which will reflect harmony between nations and ethnic groups. The dance will show the children's understanding of concepts such as peace and friendship.

Zhu Jing, vice-president of the NCPA, said that NCPA as a national performing arts center, pays special attention to the art cultivation of young people. Each year, the center carries out around 1,000 educational art activities. However, this gala is a collaborative effort.

"We would not be able to roll out this gala on our own. Thanks to the help from the community, we are able to present the children a platform for them to express their affection towards the motherland."

The gala involves 38 groups of children from Beijing, Shanghai, Sichuan, Fujian and Hainan. Chief Director of the Gala Meng Yan said the children's ideas were fully considered and respected during the compiling of the show.

"In the creation and arrangement of the program, we paid full attention to the children, let them think about their responsibilities, and cultivate their love for the environment, their motherland and peace," said Meng.

In order to allow more children to enjoy the gala, a high definition live broadcast will also be aired.
