Chinese Red Notice fugitive turns himself in

Xiao Jianming, one of China's most wanted graft fugitives, has returned to China and turned himself in about 6.5 years after fleeing overseas, China's top anti-graft authority announced Thursday.
Xiao, former chairman of Yunnan Tin Group in southwest China's Yunnan Province and a deputy director of the finance and economics committee of the provincial people's congress, is suspected of taking bribes, according to a statement by the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection of the Communist Party of China and the National Supervisory Commission.
Born in 1947, Xiao fled overseas in December 2012, the statement said.
The Yunnan Provincial People's Procuratorate issued an arrest warrant for Xiao in August 2014. He was listed on the Interpol Red Notice in February 2015.
Xiao is the 58th of China's top 100 fugitives listed on the Interpol Red Notice who have returned to China, following the return of another fugitive Mo Peifen earlier this week.
The statement said Xiao's return showed China's resolve to hunt down corrupt fugitives, urging all other fugitives to surrender as soon as possible for leniency.
