The Urban Administration and Law Enforcement Bureau of Shenzhen organized an open day activity for a new footpath around Taojin Hill on June 17, 2019, to prepare for the footpath's trial operation early next month.

The 7.07-kilometer footpath, which was transformed from a historic border patrol line, features many breath taking scenic spots as it meanders through hills, forests, lakes and valleys.

It features three visitor rest stations and 13 observation decks, among which eight are installed with AI interaction terminals. The creators of the footpath aim to integrate AI, wireless internet, weather forecast and smart communications.

An app tailor-made for the footpath will be launched soon to make it more convenient for the people to plan their trip and enjoy the public services provided by the advanced technology along the path. Five sentry boxes are kept as reminder of its history as a border patrol line.

After soliciting suggestions from the public, the bureau has invited seven experts on culture and landscape to name the scenic spots, observation decks and rest stations along the path.

During the open day activity, the bureau also released new Regulations on Shenzhen Green Path Construction, which prioritize the protection of the local ecology, guarantees of safety and sustainability in new projects. The regulations will help to standardize future footpath construction projects in the city.
