Construction for the highly anticipated Universal Beijing Resort has entered its first phase, and steel structural frames are being completed. Meanwhile, gardening work on the park's flora and fauna is also under way.
The first phase of the park construction covers over 60 hectares. According to the project leader, construction involves complicated and special park sections. Apart from common civil engineering, electrical engineering, and decoration sections, the project also involves dozens of professional fields such as riding equipment, mobile action figures, performance settings, theme decorations, and rockeries.
The equipment for the theme park's rides is getting the most attention. "To ensure visitors' safety and better their experience, the Sino-U.S. tech team has a strict demand for the installation's precision," said a person in charge, adding that the safety of the rides is being ensured by high-precision installation technologies like BIM modeling, the independent fixed support system, and the total station instrument measuring system.
During the China International Fair for Trade in Services held in late May, Tom Mehrmann, president and general manager at Universal Beijing Resort, said that Universal Studios and its theme parks around the world have many spots based on famous films such as "Transformers" and "Jurassic World." The Beijing Resort is not an exception, and visitors will have more than one choices here. The detailed arrangement will be officially announced later this year.
The first construction phase of the resort also includes projects such as Beijing Universal City Avenue, the Universal-branded hotel, and the NUO Resort Hotel.
The Universal-branded hotel will adopt Spanish renaissance architecture, and inside the hotel, there will be many film elements. It is designed to be a four-star family resort hotel with 800 rooms. As for the NUO Resort Hotel, its architecture is inspired by the Yuanmingyuan (Old Summer Palace). The NUO Resort Hotel is a five-star hotel and has 400 rooms, with construction soon to finish.
In the south of the park, a parking structure with 6,000 spaces is under construction.
