Ten projects in the cultural and tourism sector are landing in the Beijing Daxing International Airport Economic Zone, including Dubai's Emaar Group and Germany's Deutsche Messe, Daxing district announced at an investment summit on Wednesday.

According to the district authorities at the 2019 Inaugural Culture and Tourism Investment Summit For the New Airport Economic Zone, the projects are expected to boost businesses around the new airport.

Wang Youguo, head of the Daxing district government, said that Beijing Daxing International Airport is positioned as an international exchange hub, the National Aviation Science and Technology Innovation Pilot Area, and the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Coordinated Development Demonstration Zone. He said the district is setting up the new airport economic zone to become a model international airport driven by talent and innovation.

According to Wang, the Beijing part of the zone covers 50 square kilometers, and the first phase of the development project covers 20 square kilometers, which include a bonded area, facilities for conventions, a shopping mall, and a healthcare center.

Wang said the new airport economic zone would seize the opportunity provided by Beijing's further opening-up of its service industry, and turn itself into a highland of international high-end production service industry. The government of Daxing district will implement free-trade-zone polices in the airport economic zone to boost the business development of the area.

Wang Lunmao, assistant general manager of Beijing New Aerotropolis, said that the newly announced projects will boost the development of new business patterns in the neighboring area.

According to reports, Emaar Group, a world-leading real estate developer, plans to invest in a commercial complex project in the zone, with shopping, entertainment, office, hotels, conferences, sports, art galleries, and other functions.

At Wednesday's summit, Daxing district initiated an alliance of the integrated development of cultural and tourism industries at the airport economic zone, aiming at promoting the cooperation of industry, university, research, capital, and other parties to create a new paradigm of smart tourism for airport-based economic zones.

Meanwhile, the Daxing Culture and Tourism Administration signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Bank of Beijing. According to the agreement, Bank of Beijing will offer a series of loan products to support cultural and creative projects of micro and small enterprises in Daxing as well as promote the construction of the Daxing Culture and Tourism Industrial Park.
