More than 50 primary school students and 20 representatives from the media visited the International Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (IDCPC) on Sept. 17, the fifth Open Day of the department.

As the first Party department to hold an Open Day, IDCPC, in charge of conducting party-to-party exchanges and cooperation, has held four Open Days since 2007, each with different themes and open to different groups of people.

This year's Open Day invited students from Cuiwei Primary School, providing an opportunity for them to find out more about the history and contribution of this Party department.

At the photo exhibition hall, officials explained to the students the mission of the department, its founding story, history and development, and the contributions made in promoting party-to-party exchanges and cementing relationships between China and other countries.

During a special class, "Story behind the International Department," Huang Huaguang, former Chinese Ambassador to Tonga, shared the stories between Chinese leaders and the kings of Tonga.

Huang told the students that even with a country whose population is only 1/36 of Beijing's Haidian district, China still developed and maintained a friendly relationship with Tonga. "We are willing to establish a friendship with any country, big or small, on the basis of mutual respect and equality," Huang said.

Liu Denglin, former Chinese Ambassador to Yemen, recounted the true experience behind the blockbuster hit "Wolf Warrior 2" and "Operation Red Sea" -- evacuating 225 foreign nationals and almost 600 Chinese citizens from Yemen with the help of Chinese warships amid a fierce civil war there in 2015.

Wang Siqi, an official from the bureau in charge of South and Southeast Asian Affairs, told stories of Party exchanges between China and Myanmar.

According to her, in June 2015, it was at the invitation of the CPC that Ms. Aung San Suu Kyi, the leader of the National League for Democracy (NLD), then Myanmar's opposition party, embarked on her first visit to China.

This groundbreaking visit, a gesture of openness, showed China's intention to enhance understanding between the two parties and strengthen ties with its southern neighbor.

"Ms. Aung San Suu Kyi once said that she started to know China from the CPC," Wang Siqi told the students. "China stands ready to maintain friendly relations with all political parties in Myanmar and deepen relations with our neighbors."

During the Open Day, Wang Yajun, vice minister of IDCPC, met with the delegation of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation, headed by Vladimir Isakov, secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation and first secretary of the Central Committee of Lenin's Communist Youth League of the Russian Federation. The students also watched the meeting.

Isakov expressed his delight to see young citizens during his visit to China. "Please believe that you live in the best country in the world. You are the future of China," he said to the students.

Hu Zhaoming, spokesperson of the IDCPC, told the reporters, "the Open Day manifests the confidence of our Party. The CPC works for the wellbeing of the people and strives to make contributions for mankind. Our mission is open and righteous, so there is nothing to hide."

"In addition, the Party's work also needs the support of the people. By holding the Open Day, our people can have a better understanding of what we do. This year, we chose to invite primary school students because we hope these promising youth can carry on our mission in the future," Hu said.
