Ten car-like robots designed with cutting-edge AI technologies were introduced by local police on Saturday to take over some patrolling duties inside the athletes' village and venues of the 2019 Wuhan Military World Games.

These four-wheeled robots can identify situations whenever people nearby wave for help or guidance. They also enable people to make one-button calls to the police.

The robots weigh 400kg each and can run for eight hours once fully charged, with a cruising speed of up to 15 km/h.

Equipped with eight cameras and sensors, the robots can capture panoramic images and send date back to the police in no time.

Local police in central Chinese city of Wuhan are taking the Games as an opportunity to further explore "smart policing" based on advanced technologies.
