So far the number of Chinese internet platforms where a children-friendly service mode is in place to prevent addiction among young viewers has reached 53, according to the Cyberspace Administration of China.

This means a uniform internet prevention mechanism has been extended to broadly cover China's major livestreaming and video platforms, the administration said in a statement Monday.

In the latest development, nine online video platforms including those of Sohu and Baidu, as well as 24 livestreaming services including 6.cn and huajiao.com, have newly introduced a children-friendly mode of service, the statement noted.

Through these modes, certain functions of the platforms are disabled and only content that suits children is recommended.

Taking prevention and intervention measures against internet addiction among children is a common responsibility of the whole community, the administration stressed, calling for internet companies, schools and parents to actively fulfill their responsibilities to ensure the healthy growth of minors.
