The construction of an underground satellite terminal of the Beijing Daxing International Airport kicked off Wednesday.

According to the Project Contractor Department of Beijing Urban Construction Group, the satellite terminal is located 667 meters south of the new airport's terminal. The structure of the underground rectangular building stretches east to west, with a length of 1,203 meters and a total construction area of over 200,000 square meters. The construction period is planned to be 210 days.

Satellite terminals are typical to airports that handle high traffic of transit passengers. International hubs like Orlando Airport and Atlanta Airport take this form in order to facilitate passenger flow.
