The 2019 Beijing annual diplomatic reception was held Monday evening in the newly constructed municipal administrative offices in the city's sub-center. The event was attended by diplomats from 120 countries and resident representatives of international organizations, along with Cai Qi, secretary of the Beijing Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), Chen Jining, deputy secretary of the CPC Beijing Municipal Committee and mayor of Beijing, and Li Wei, chairman of the standing committee of the Beijing Municipal People's Congress.

The event was the first diplomatic reception since Beijing's municipal administrative institutions moved into the sub-center. In his address, Chen thanked embassies and international organizations for their continued supports. He said right now Beijing is undergoing a new round of opening-up, and endeavors to further enhance its international standing and influence. Beijing's drive to refine ecosystem management, strengthen its scientific and technological capacities, and cultivate a business-friendly environment will lead to closer ties and more cooperation opportunities between the Chinese capital and the world.

Abdullah Saleh Al Saadi, ambassador of Oman to China, gave a speech on behalf of foreign diplomatic corps. He congratulated Beijing on its great accomplishments in ecosystem management, scientific and technological innovations, opening-up and development, and public services. He spoke highly of the plan and development of Beijing's sub-center, as well as the preparations for the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games. He said he wishes to see more of Beijing's marvelous achievements in years to come.

Diplomats and resident representatives paid a visit to Millennium Woods, a garden landscape in Beijing's sub-center and an exhibition of the sub-center's planning and construction.
