China's postal and delivery firms have contributed to the country's anti-poverty efforts by creating jobs and promoting farm produce sales, the country's postal service regulator said.

The country's delivery firms have nurtured 905 projects designed to promote sales of local farm produce and specialties, with 23 of them boasting over 10 million deliveries each year, data from the State Post Bureau (SPB) showed Wednesday.

Major delivery firms have created over 268,000 jobs for impoverished areas and helped sell local produce worth 367 million yuan (about 51.8 million U.S. dollars).

During the first three quarters of this year, postal service firms had developed over 1,100 similar projects, helping sell 284,000 tonnes of farm produce and local specialties in urban areas with a total transaction volume of 3.88 billion yuan, up 69 percent and 25.6 percent year on year respectively.

Online sales of farm produce in national poor counties reached 110.99 billion yuan in the first half of 2019, up 29.5 percent year on year, SPB data showed.
