The first Beijing International Public Service Advertisement Conference convened on Monday at China National Convention Center under the theme of "Hands on Public Service Advertisement, Building a Better World Together."

Directed by the National Radio and Television Administration and the Beijing Municipal Government and organized by the Publicity Department of the Beijing Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China and the Beijing Municipal Radio and Television Bureau, the three-day conference will see a series of thematic seminars, exhibitions of outstanding public service ads, ceremonies, and special promotional events. Over 500 pieces of outstanding ads since 1981 are on exhibit in real-life and multi-media forms.

On July 15, a contest was unveiled to solicit creative ideas for public service ads, drawing participation from 50 universities and colleges, as well as more than 100 professional studios in more than 20 provinces and cities. The contest has received 2,338 entries, producing 100 winning pieces.

Two winning ideas — "Hands" in celebration of the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, and "Ignite a Beautiful Life" with a theme of ecological protection — will be made into videos.
