Beijing Capital International Airport has sectioned off a docking and screening area for planes and passengers from countries hit hard by the COVID-19 epidemic, Chen Bei, deputy secretary-general of the Beijing municipal government, said at a press conference on Tuesday.

Passengers would be checked for their health and body temperatures, get their information registered, and go through transfer procedures in the separate all-in-one area T3-D.

According to Chen, the airport renovated the area and designated more staff to shorten time and walking distance taken by passengers. It also set up different sections or channels within the area based on the destinations of passengers.

Chen said that anyone found to have abnormal readings during the entry process would be immediately transferred in specialized vehicles for further medical check, and even people who clear the initial check would be quarantined after arriving their destinations.
