May 17 marked the 30th National Day for Assisting the Disabled in China. And Luohu took it as an opportunity to raise public awareness in regard to such help.

In recent years, Luohu has worked hard to give disabled people guarantees in regard to their life, giving aid for rehabilitation training, providing assistance in their work, and supporting their cultural and entertainment activities.

Over the past five years, the Luohu Disabled Persons' Federation has actively worked for the supply of necessary goods to disabled people; it has improved the social assistance system to provide favorable conditions for their full integration into society; actively organized seminars and conducted field researches to better understand the practical needs of the disabled people.

The federation also mobilizes government, community and social powers to care for the disabled, particularly those living alone.

Over the past five years, it has provided professional rehabilitation services to disabled children more than 2,000 times.

Also, the district pays special attention to improving barrier-free facilities in its infrastructural facility construction at public sites.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, the federation opened hotline to offer psychological counseling, and organized volunteers to help more than 415 disabled people to resolve difficulties in life including obtaining necessary medication. The federation also provides rehabilitation centers with essential medical supplies.
