The CPC Luohu Committee held a conference among its standing committee members on May 18. Luohu Party chief Luo Yude presided over the meeting.

The conference attendees studied important speeches that General Secretary Xi Jinping delivered during his inspection tour to Shanxi province earlier this month, as well as the Shenzhen municipal and Guangdong provincial committees' deployments on pandemic control and economic development. They also listened to reports regarding pandemic control in their district, and made further directives on future work.

The meeting set a number of objectives that the Luohu authorities must adhere to. First, the meeting stressed the need to continue doing a good job of the regularization of epidemic prevention and control measures. Secondly, all people from Hubei province, the hardest-hit region in the country, arriving in Luohu must receive a COVID-19 test. Thirdly, the government must demonstrate humanitarian care and provide customized services to people under medical quarantine. Fourth, accountability systems must be implemented at public sites and businesses and people should be encouraged to pay attention to their self-protection. Finally, the digital registration system must function well to ensure all people can be traced.

The meeting emphasized that all Party members and civil servants of the Luohu authorities must strictly implement the directives included in Xi's speeches, bear the bigger picture in mind, and fulfill their respective poverty alleviation tasks before the end of this year.

The meeting pointed out that poverty-stricken areas receiving Luohu's assistance must have their public services - such as medical care and education - livelihoods, industries and job-creation mechanisms improved so that people can enjoy more gains. It is also necessary that people lifted out of poverty avoid slipping back into poverty again.
