A public interest group affiliated to the New Social Stratum Association of Luohu was founded in Shenzhen Internet Industrial Park on May 20.

May 20 was also set as "public interest day" for the association.

At the establishment ceremony, the association also held a charity sale of paintings by physically-challenged children.

Senior officials of the united front work departments of the CPC Shenzhen committee and CPC Luohu committee took part in the activities along with a group of more than 50 children and their parents in Luohu.

The main work will be to organize volunteer services, run a public interest library and public interest green path, care for autistic children and those with aphasia, as well as promoting education for children from destitute homes.

A total of 100 paintings drawn by children were sold for a total of 30,000 yuan, which will be used to fund the rehabilitation training of 10 hearing-impaired children.

Fan Kun, deputy head of the United Front Work Department of CPC Shenzhen Committee, spoke highly of the association's performances in caring for needy people.

He said the members of the association should play up their strengths and make a due contribution to pandemic control and economic development, particularly the construction of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and the pilot demonstration zone of the socialism with Chinese characteristics in Shenzhen, and use their concrete actions to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the establishment of the Shenzhen Special Economic Zone.

Wu Huan, head of the United Front Work Department of the CPC Luohu Committee, said the promotion of new social stratum was a key target for the work of the united front work department, as well as an indispensable activity group in society.

Wu urged them to assume their social responsibilities based on their obvious strengths, and use the public interest group as a platform to make their work a brilliant name card of Luohu.
