Shougang Industrial Park, where the organizing committee for the 2022 Beijing Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games is located, plans to invest nearly 10 billion yuan to develop its 500,000-square-meter space within this year, its officials said on Thursday.

The scope of the development projects cover the Winter Olympics, technological and cultural integration, high-end business facilities, and futuristic cities.

The construction of a bonded warehouse is already underway in the park. After it is put into use this year, it will be the first public bonded warehouse for sports products in Beijing, as well as a test location for transactions involving winter sports products and high-end sports equipment.

A Winter Olympics square is also included in the plan. Furthermore, the Beijing Winter Olympics technical operation center and its affiliated communication hub, as well as the Winter Olympics cloud broadcasting center in the park, will be ready to be opened to the public when the games draw near.

In addition, the park is aiming to develop itself into a landmark site integrating technological and cultural characteristics. So far, it has completed the test operation of eight models of unmanned vehicles, which will be able to provide short-distance commuting services for the public within the year.

Starting from June, over 20 entertainment activities will be held here, including robot performances, light shows, an electronic sports game, and a fashion week event.

In terms of high-end business facilities, café and hotel brands have set up establishments here. They will later be joined by a bookstore, a beer house, and an electronic product shop in October.

From the end of this year to the middle of next year, another 150,000 square meters of industrial space in the north district of the park will be available for development. Currently, companies and tenants have occupied 92% of the constructed area in Shougang Industrial Park, signifying the emergence of a new industrial ecosystem.
