Due to pandemic risks, Shenzhen has started strengthening its supervision of its market environment, food products and workers in food transportation and marketing from June 13.

As of June 16, 472 environmental samples, 418 food samples and 343 throat swabs of the people selling, processing and delivering food had been collected. They were collected from various kinds of outlets of agricultural produces, seafood, aquatic products, domestic and imported livestock in all districts of the city. All of the samples tested negative.

The samples are mainly collected from seafood, meat, refrigerators, chopping boards, food storage racks and other kitchenware.

Zhuang Huiyuan, a doctor with the Luohu Center for Diseases Prevention and Control, said that with the support of Food and Drug Administrative Department, the Public Health Department will conduct periodic examinations and checks of the Luohu Aquatic Product Wholesale Market, including the people working in the market.

The market has also strengthened its ventilation and sterilization. Huang Yushu, president of the Luohu Aquatic Product Wholesale Market, said that the market has stepped up its pandemic prevention and control measures. For example, all vehicles transporting goods to the market have been registered and all people working in the market are registered. He added that consumers should feel assured while shopping in the market.
